I would also suggest that you subscribe to that blog as well so you won’t miss out on what is going on during the trip. You can subscribe by browsing to http://www.4hisservice.com/rmb_blog/wp-login.php?action=register

There are alreadya couple of posts out there already but there is bound to be more soon.

On a different note, Amy, Isaiah, and I miss you all and look forward to being with you one more time on Sunday.

P.S. Someone better warn Darrel that I’m coming, haha! See you Sunday!

Flight Leaves in 7 Hours

I realized as I was checking the flight info from the earlier post that the teams first flight home leaves in 7 hours. The team will be traveling from 11:05pm eastern time tonight and will arrive, hopefully with all of their luggage and the whole team, at 7:15pm eastern tomorrow night.

Now is a great time to begin to pray because while they don’t leave until 7 hours from now on the plane, they will leave in about 1 hour from Finate in order to make it to the airport on time.

For those on the team reading this, we are praying. for those at home reading this, remember the future and the ministry that has been built this week. ask yourself, could I be the next one to serve?

Summing Up the Week

What a blessing this week has been to minister to the kids of Romania alongside my church family and friends here. It’s been an amazing time of fellowship, encouragement, and ministry. Our VBS with the gypsy children and kids from the village was great. Several accepted Christ during the week and I enjoyed being able to do music in Romanian with the kids. They loved the song “Domnul Mare E” (My God is Big) and Isaiah brought up that I was about his age when I went to Illinois on a mission trip and taught him that song. He was in kindergarten that year I think. Wow! It’s cool how God works in our lives. And now he and I are halfway across the world helping to teach that song to kids in Romania. Isaiah was great with the kids this week, with all his energy he really connected with them. He let the little gypsy boys chase him with beach balls and played with them. The kids loved their big “chicken” as they called him. I heard them the first day yelling “gaina” after him as they ran, and the name stuck. lol. God is really at work in that young man’s life. Gabi and I had the group of kids from Trestia through the week. I learned a few more of the kids names and talked the ones I knew from last week. One day Darius (one of the gypsy boys, about 7 years old) was sitting on a rock on the other side of the river during rec time. I asked him why he wasn’t playing. He said he was hot and didn’t want to play, so I asked if I could sit with him. We looked for big fish in the river and eventually he decided to play with the other kids. He had a big smile on his face as we walked across the container. I’m so glad to be able to share God’s love with the kids here, even if just a little through my limited knowledge of the language. But I know He is at work in the hearts of the people here, and I pray that He will draw Romanians to know Him personally and find in Him the One true place of hope and trust.

A word from Mamma Kim

Hello from Romania! My second mission trip has been another blessing, although I was the first to suffer sickness. We finished our 3 day VBS in Finate on Friday and I couldn’t even last long enough to clean up the school where we held the VBS. It wasn’t even a problem, because our team rallied around me (as I knew they would) & they INSISTED that I stay at camp and rest (Praise the LORD!!) So, I did. It was official-I had hit my “wall”. I couldn’t even attend church that night in Lapus. It was obvious to me that Satan could not stand the work we are doing here so we would be attacked physically-however, he did not, is not & will not get the glory. We have since had at least half of our team missing various events/services due to being physically ill and even though we may be too sick to go Satan can’t keep us from lifting up our team in PRAYER!!! I know that VBS was successful and I am thankful that I was able to be instrumental in sharing with these children! For those of you back home please be in prayer for our team for the following: VBS (Mon. & Tues.) in Baia Mare, and the remaining church services, Visits with gypsy villages, work at camp, & especially for the team to be well BEFORE boarding the plane…for those who remember from last yr. we don’t want to spend an 8 hr flight “in the basement”!! LOL
One Last thing-today we were sooooo blessed to witness 16 baptisms in the river at camp!!! It kinda made me consider rededication =)
Pa Pa (Bye Bye)

Sorry for so little updates

The team is so engaged with ministry that there is little time for anything else. When we get in we are exhausted and when we get up it is time to go again.

here is a quick update so far:
1) Three days of VBS with several children coming to Christ
2) Preaching in different churches with people being encouraged and equipped
3) Sports camp was a big hit as children saw the love of God as we played with them
4) Pastors conference was well received and we believe God is up to something great among the men of God in Romania
5) Trip to Orphanage left everyone heartbroken and humbled.

Tomorrow is two church services plus a baptism in the middle and a meeting with an African missionary who will speak to team afterward.

Monday will be medical missions day and VBS in another town at night plus one preaching service

Tuesday will be the same and to bed early to get up for a 2 am departure for the airport on Wed. which is 7 Pm your time.

YOUR PRAYERS ARE WORKING AND WE PRAY YOU KEEP WORKING IN PRAYER. WE WILL DIE WITHOUT THEM!!!

hello mom and dad

Sorry I have not blogged yet it skipped my mind. All i can say is that I want to come here for a full summer no matter the cost. I am having fun and It blows My mind that there are children over here that only have old … everything and all I have been thinking before I came was how cool it would be to get a PS3. So God has laid on my heart that I need to give Up what I don’t need because children here don’t even have what they need. So when I get back I am going to donate/sell all the things that i do not need in my life and use the money to save up for Hondurous and next years Romania. that means the money for the PS3 I will still take But I will use it for those trips. I hope u will agree with me that this is what needs to be done. And will support me in the Lords plan for my life. I pray that many the kids and adults in this country, and the world for that matter will accept Christ in there life and spread it to those that did not hear or did not accept.
Amen

I just had 2 minutes this morning…

By God’s grace, Pastor Keith, Pastor John and I have been faithfully preaching God’s word in many different cities. We have had opportunities to preach to local Romanian congregations in mid-week services, and today we’ll wrap up a training conference for church leaders in this region. Please continue to pray that our words would be clear and our hearts would be passionate with love for God and his precious people here in Romania. Pray that the Spirit would open eyes and ears to receive God’s word.

In Christ,

James

A Word from James

This morning I received an email from James about other things but this was at the tail end of the message:

All’s well in Romania, including Isaiah. Nobody has duct-taped him yet, but I think he may have received a few threats 🙂

The kids are in VBS right now. I’m doing some sermon prep and other church emails, etc. Nice breeze blowing through right now, keeping the 80 degree temps feeling just perfect. Hope it’s not too hot there… ttyl.

If You Had A Wish

This morning we began our first VBS day with the children of Romania.  The children came and as usual they were all looking at the Americans to see what we brought for them and they were looking to hear more about our nation and maybe the hope that someday they could come to our great nation.

As I think about this scene, I realize how many people think the American dream is the answer for all the problems in the world.  Certainly America is, I believe, a very blessed place to live and we have so much more than other nations of the world.  However, what we have does not solve the world’s greatest problem, which is sin.

Jesus in the midst of explaining to Nicodemus the need of being born again, shares about the work of the Holy Spirit, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear it’s sound, but you do not where it comes from or where it goes.  So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit,” John 3:8.  Notice, it is God who chooses who is born again and it is always his wish that people would be born again.

This Friday morning I will lead our team in devotion considering this very text. I will ask the following question, “If you had one wish what would it be?”  For our team I know the answer will be, “That many people will be saved.”  Certainly we are here to see people come to Christ.  But we must remember the wind blows where it wills.  We do not do the work of salvation, but we are responsible fo the word of sowing seed.

The better answer we should be giving is, “That God would be gloried in all that we do.”  When God is lifted up as our goal people will respond to him and not to the american dream.  So as we minister to children of all ages and their family members who stand around the walls and watch, we must focus on our lives bringing glory to Him.

So please pray for our team that they will serve for His glory.  I believe it is already happening as I watch team members like Paula, Karen, Kile, and Kim patiently prepare for each day with the passion of doing it all for the glory of the Lord.

I wonder, if you had one wish, what would you ask for this day?  Oh how I pray that you would wish for what we have talked about today. Here is how Jesus wrapped up His discussion with Nicodemus, “But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that his deeds may clearly be seen that his works have been carried out in God,”  We do not seek for the children of Romania to remember us, we want them to know Christ.

They have arrived!

Pastor Keith called a few minutes ago and said they have all arrived safely and all of their luggage arrived except one suitcase but it had been located and they would receive it this evening. It is 3:15pm in Finate so the team still has a few more hours before their much needed rest. Keep praying!
