Summing Up the Week
What a blessing this week has been to minister to the kids of Romania alongside my church family and friends here. It’s been an amazing time of fellowship, encouragement, and ministry. Our VBS with the gypsy children and kids from the village was great. Several accepted Christ during the week and I enjoyed being able to do music in Romanian with the kids. They loved the song “Domnul Mare E” (My God is Big) and Isaiah brought up that I was about his age when I went to Illinois on a mission trip and taught him that song. He was in kindergarten that year I think. Wow! It’s cool how God works in our lives. And now he and I are halfway across the world helping to teach that song to kids in Romania. Isaiah was great with the kids this week, with all his energy he really connected with them. He let the little gypsy boys chase him with beach balls and played with them. The kids loved their big “chicken” as they called him. I heard them the first day yelling “gaina” after him as they ran, and the name stuck. lol. God is really at work in that young man’s life. Gabi and I had the group of kids from Trestia through the week. I learned a few more of the kids names and talked the ones I knew from last week. One day Darius (one of the gypsy boys, about 7 years old) was sitting on a rock on the other side of the river during rec time. I asked him why he wasn’t playing. He said he was hot and didn’t want to play, so I asked if I could sit with him. We looked for big fish in the river and eventually he decided to play with the other kids. He had a big smile on his face as we walked across the container. I’m so glad to be able to share God’s love with the kids here, even if just a little through my limited knowledge of the language. But I know He is at work in the hearts of the people here, and I pray that He will draw Romanians to know Him personally and find in Him the One true place of hope and trust.
